Keen to also share their win with the less fortunate, the couple support various charities as well as having set up their own charity that helps people and good causes in Bolton. He married his girlfriend of three months, Louise, 36, and the couple now live in a five bedroom house in Essex with their two children.
As well as enjoying luxury holidays, the couple have also used the win to help charities close to their heart, supporting the special care baby unit at Princess Alexandra Hospital, by buying much needed equipment. The savvy couple have also invested in two rental properties which Emma now manages.
National Lottery Thea had been working in a small souvenir factory, producing badges and key rings, at the time of her win. Herself and her late husband, Paul, lived in a small terrace house in Torquay. Paul had suffered a back injury and was unable work and Thea had been told she was due to be made redundant at the end of the year - so their huge win really couldn't have come at a better time.
One of the first purchases the generous couple made was linked to Paul's 20 year support of the local scout group, with an all-expenses paid trip to the west coast of Canada for them all.
Passionate football fans the couple also invested in Paul's beloved Torquay United inand following his loss Thea continues to support the club and was announced as the club's chairwoman last year. At the time of their win, Elaine worked part-time in a garage and Derek was an accountant. Following their win, the couple first bought and ran a holiday complex in Dorset and then a restaurant on the seafront in Lyme Regis.
They have since semi-retired and moved back in their beloved North East of England having seen both children through university — the first members of their family to do so.
