This year 11 Gliders competed and won 4 medals by finishing in the top 25 finishers while our girls team finished 6th. The team competed again the next weekend on the challenging Apalachee Park course in Tallahassee where the Florida high school and NCAA regional championships where held this year.

While in Tallahassee, the Gliders visited the downtown Challenger Learning center and later zip-lined at the Tallahassee Museum and visited Cascades park downtown. Several Gliders were awarded medals by finishing in the top 25 of their age group race. Our boys also had a strong showing with Anderson Rodriguez taking 7th place in the 7-year-old race and Connor McCarthy taking 24th in the 9-year-old race.

Coach Craig Wise founded the Central Florida Gliders inand the club has been attending national cross country championships since Central Florida Gliders contacts via info cfgliders.
This year Coach Wise took over the cross country program and received help from long-time mentor Ted Benz and also Neamen Wise. Coach Tony started a fall conditioning program for the sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers that focused on sprint and jumping mechanics.
In the middle of October, the Gliders returned to Sanlando Park from the Forest City course to host its annual cross country meet. In mid-November, several Gliders competed and one Glider alumni won the gold medal in the 4A division of the high school state championships in Tallahassee.
The next week the team competed in the AAU district meet in Ocala and qualified for the national championships in December. First time for any national cross country championships hosted in Florida. The club continued its tradition of helping several needy families during the holidays. Through the generous donations of our present and past members, the Gliders were able to provide food, presents and support for six families over the holiday.

This year conditioning for the sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers was added this year. It was nice weather and a fair turn-out with the first appearance of the Mega-Glider mascot who took pictures with the team. In mid-November, several Gliders competed and medaled in the high school state champion- ships in Tallahassee. This year the Gliders fielded a girls team which finished 8th while three Gliders medaled by finishing in the top 25 finishers.

On October 25th, the Gliders hosted its annual cross country meet for the 16th consecutive year at the Seminole Softball Complex and Sanlando Park. In mid-November, several Gliders competed and medaled in the high school state championships in Tallahassee. The Gliders finished up the cross country season in mid-December with a year-end bowling party, awarding 2 college scholarships to Gliders at two universities, and continuing its tradition of helping several needy families during the holidays.

There are six male and female divisions. The year of birth will determine age division in which the athlete will compete. Athletes are required to enter online at the first level of competition, as advancement is based upon performance i. Athletes must meet certain eligibility requirements to compete. Generally, the first 0 individual finishers and first three teams in each age division at the Regional Championships will qualify for the National Championships.
Athletes and teams from some Associations will qualify directly from their Association Championships as follows: Contact your local association or regional meet director to learn more about how to qualify for the National Championships, or visit the Junior Olympic Cross Country website page. Participant numbers are fixed and no alternate athletes may advance if qualifying athletes or teams choose not to enter the National Championships.

Entries cannot be accepted by any other method. Late and onsite entries will not be accepted for this competition. Athletes in all races will be required to wear all of these identifiers to ensure the races are properly scored. Athletes must wear the bib number, hip number and data tags assigned to them. If any of these are lost or forgotten, replacements can be supplied at packet pick-up on the day of the race for a fee. The bib number must be worn on the front of the athlete's outer layer of race clothing and cannot be folded or altered in any way.
Each number will have a pull tab at the bottom. Do not remove the pull tab on the bottom of the bib or put safety pins through the tab.
The hip number worn on the left hip should also be worn on the athlete s outer layer of clothing.

Each athlete must wear one data tag on each shoe. One data tag may be kept as a souvenir and athletes must return the other data tag to the event organizers in the finish line area immediately after their race.
Awards Individual awards will be given to the top athletes in each event.
Team awards will be given to the top teams in each age division. The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, December, 0 at: Check-In All athletes must report to the staging area 0 minutes before the start of their races; only competing athletes are allowed in this area.
Please observe all areas that are roped off and please obey all course monitor directions. Individuals and teams will have designated starting positions. Warm-Up and Staging Areas The staging area will provide plenty of space for athlete warm-up and will be clearly designated with signs. Clerks will be assigned to each starting box.
In the event of any position changes, teams and individuals are expected to follow the directions given by the clerks or other USATF or meet personnel. The team jersey must be clearly visible throughout the race. This means the team jersey should be worn as the outside layer of clothing if other garments are worn during the race.
Athletes who are unattached or who compete for a team not in team competition may wear any apparel as long as it is safe, not offensive, and has the athlete's bib number attached to the outside layer. This fee will be returned if the protest is upheld.
